Why can't I use ABCPDF with XUL Runner to create PDFs?

We’re testing GearHost to move our enterprise application to the Reserved Host plan.

Everything seems fine so far - except PDF functionality. Our application uses ABCPDF to generate PDF documents. The PDF related libraries are in the bin folder. We are using the Gecko engine to generate PDFs. More details here: http://www.websupergoo.com/helppdfnet/source/5-abcpdf/xhtmloptions/2-properties/1-engine.htm

When we try to create a PDF, we are getting the following error after a long timeout:

502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server.
There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. When the Web server (while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream content server, it received an invalid response from the content server.

How can we resolve this? PDF creation is critical to our application.

Sounds like a configuration issue. I’m not familiar with websupergoo. Are there configuration settings somewhere?

Did you get this working?

Unfortunately, no.

I was told by GearHost support that ABCPDF will require a CloudServer instead of a Cloudsite. A cloudserver starts at $49.99 and is similar to VPS hosting.

But I tried out the Professional Shared Windows Hosting with TMD Hosting and it works just fine there. So likely, we will go ahead with TMD after we test them out thoroughly.

I couldn’t get ABCPDF working either (I think it was due to version of IE on server) but I switched to a similar component from http://selectpdf.com/ that did work. Although this is a paid product for full functionality there is a free community edition that suited my needs.
